Independent
Living Resource Center, Inc. (ILRC) is a consumer controlled, not-for-profit agency that provides community-based services for persons
with all types of
disabilities.
ILRC
was incorporated June 28, 1996 by a group of citizens with disabilities
and others concerned about disability issues.
This group attained the support of local legislators and agency
administrators and began the work of opening a center, located in
Jefferson City. This center
was one of nine (9) new centers to join the already existing twelve
(12), in the state of Missouri.
Funding
is primarily provided by a state grant from Department of Elementary and
Secondary Education, Rehabilitation Services Administration, Division of
Vocational Rehabilitation. ILRC
also generates funding from donations by local businesses and by
applying for other grants.
