Luncheon and Awards Ceremoney at the Capital Plaza

last ten years and show their appreciation for many in
the community who have helped with that success through
support and special services offered.
This
year ILRC participated in the
Osage/Maries County Relay for Life
held in Linn, Missouri.
The Relay for Life event is a fun-filled overnight activity that mobilizes communities
across the country to celebrate survivorship, remember those who
lost their lives to cancer, and raise money for the fight
against cancer. This is an American Cancer Society signature
activity.

April 22, 2006
The ILRC Staff and the Heart of America Girl
Scout Troop #443 hosted a Prom at the Thomas
Jefferson Middle School, benefitting young
adults, ages 14 to 30, with special needs.
The event was made successfully not only by
the participants who came to enjoy the
evening but also by the many individuals and
businesses that either donated or
volunteered their assistance. This Prom was
the first of what we hope to be an annual
event to look forward to every year.
This
year ILRC participated in the
Moniteau County Relay for Life
held in California, Missouri.
This annual American Cancer Society event is
an ideal way to remember those whom we have
lost to cancer, celebrate those who have
survived, and to raise money for the
continued fight to find a cure. At the
Relay, participants put together 8 to 15
member teams, some set up booths to sell
donations to raise money, have one person at
a time walk the track during the all-night
vigil, and participate in a Luminaria
Ceremony to honor those who have passed away
from cancer.
The function of this event is to raise money
within the community, increase public
awareness of the need to fund research to
find a cure, and promote community support
for the survivors and families of cancer
victims.
