The Children and
Youth Services are for any child or youth with a
disability.
ILRC is a
provider for Healthy Children and Youth. This program is
for youth, birth- 21, with disabilities overseen by
Bureau of Special Health Care Needs. Healthy Children
and Youth is a program designed for a personal care
attendant to come into the home and help the youth,
while the parent is at work or school.
One of the
programs under this service is the Missouri Parents ACT
(MPACT) Parent Mentor Program where certified staff
members assist parents by helping them prepare for
meetings with the child’s school, organizing files,
focusing on what the true issues are, or by attending
IEP (Individualized Education Plan) meetings with
parents. The purpose of this program is not to do
things for a parent, but to empower them so that they
may become better advocates for their children.
ILRC has a youth
group for ages 12-18. This group meets once a month to
do various activities, such as pizza and a movie, ice
skating, a trip to Osage Beach, etc.
ILRC holds a
Prom for youth with disabilities annually for youth
15-19. It is held in Jefferson City and all youth
throughout the state are invited. The night consists of
dinner, dancing and a night they’ll never forget!
*All other ILRC
programs are available to children and youth with
disabilities as well. |
