Low Vision Resources


In connection with Missouri Department of Social Services, Division of Family Services and Rehabilitation Services for the Blind, Independent Living Resource Center (ILRC) now provides Low Vision Resources to visually impaired individuals aged Fifty-Five (55) and older.

ILRC has a demonstration site of various Magnifiers and a CCTV (Closed Circuit Television)


Low Vision/Blind Services Program (Equipment)


Equipment purchases will provide equipment to assist a person who is low-vision/blind with performing daily living activities. We will not purchase any equipment that another agency would have funding to purchase.

Red bullet indentation  Individuals must fill out an Application for Low-Vision/Blind Services through ILRC, Inc.
Red bullet indentation  Individuals must provide a doctor's note explaining that he/she is low vision and in need of the assistive equipment.
Red bullet indentation  Our provision of services will be subject to the individual following all ILRC rules and procedures.
Red bullet indentation  Any equipment purchased that might be broken, lost, etc. will not be replaced using ILRC funds.


Low Vision/Blind Services Program (Transportation)


Transportation will provide passes for non-emergency medical transportation, free of charge to the consumer who meets the following criteria:

Red bullet indentation  Individuals must fill out an Application for Low-Vision/Blind Services through ILRC, Inc.
Red bullet indentation  Individuals must provide ILRC with a doctor's note explaining he/she is Low-Vision and/or Blind and needs assistance with transportation.
Red bullet indentation  Individuals must file all forms from the 10-page Transportation Packet and agree to follow all of the rules of the bus.
Red bullet indentation  Passes available on a first come-first serve basis and only until the funds have been exhausted for the year.
Red bullet indentation  Service dogs are allowed.
Red bullet indentation  One attendant is allowed to ride along free if the individual feels they need an attendant and would normally have an attendant with them to go to the doctor's visit.
